The year: Summer of 2002
The place: Beijing, China
2002 will go down in our travel history as one of the most memorable experiences in our teaching career...it combined the best of teaching with a phenomenal travel experience...climbing the great wall, trips to the Forbidden Palace and the Temple of Heaven among other things...
Some day I hope to repeat the success of this trip by combining a travel and teach experience in Central/South America.
The travel and teach model affords us the opportunity to truly understand the culture and the people in our travels. Our travel thus becomes an "arch, whereto gleams the untravelled world"
The clever marketing of the "Travels in E-ducation" program and the skills of the tour guides was a major incentive to sign up for the program.

I'm curious...how did you set up the travel and teach experience? Exchange? Leave? Board trip? My husband and I looked into doing some teaching overseas back at the start of our careers, but then my Mother in Law was diagnosed with cancer and subsequently passed away so we never did make it abroad. However, it's still a goal of mine...one day...
